SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Unlike traditional business entrepreneurs, social entrepreneurs primarily seek to generate "social value" rather than profits. And unlike the majority of non-profit organizations, their work is targeted not only towards immediate, small-scale effects, but sweeping, long-term change.

"Social entrepreneurs identify resources where people only see problems. They view the villagers as the solution, not the passive beneficiary. They begin with the assumption of competence and unleash resources in the communities they're serving."  David Bornstein, author of How to Change the World: Social Entrepreneurs and the Power of New Ideas.

The job of a social entrepreneur is to recognize when a part of society is stuck and to provide new ways to get it unstuck. He or she finds what is not working and solves the problem by changing the system, spreading the solution and persuading entire societies to take new leaps.

Mamapalooza is starting an opportunity for social entrepreneurs to promote mothers in the arts and bring to light social issues which negatively affect women and mothers. Ultimately, Mamapalooza and our army of social entrepreneurs will produce measurable impact by opening up new pathways for the marginalized and disadvantaged, and unlock the power of arts and culture to address issues which inhibit mothers from reaching their full potential and to purposefully effect social change.

Social entrepreneurs will run their events much like the model of home parties.  The model has made businesses billions of dollars, it is Mamapalooza’s mission to direct the fiscal power of women and mothers to raise money for organizations that will make real change for mothers and children either living right in their community or in a different part of the world.  The social entrepreneur will have the “cause”; Mamapalooza will provide the “experience” by recruiting mother made entertainment for the events.  The entrepreneur will plan the event, set the pricing, promote the event through invitation and others means they deem necessary.  Funds from the event will be distributed in the following way:  60% to the organization of the coordinator’s choice; 20% to the coordinator; and 20% to Mamapalooza.

You might wonder, why we do what we do at MaMapalooza? You might wonder why Joy Rose would want to work over 60 hours a week on creating women-empowered, mom-made events? You might think it’s because of the media attention.

You might think it’s because she’s getting so rich with the MaMapalooza brand, she just can’t stop buying fast cars and diamonds! You might think she’s looking for a good excuse to get away from her kids and get out on tour.

Well, none of the above are true.

Joy Rose is passionate about creating opportunities for women, because she sees the challenges of everyday life. She sees the power of putting people together and the incredible transformation that happens when individuals are empowered to speak, sing and share their incredible God-given talents and passion. She appreciates that whenever people are offered an opportunity to share their deepest desires, and come together in community, beautiful things happen and they happen to make the world a better place.

More about LUPUS hereThis event, at the age of 37, resulted in a crisis of medical and spiritual proportions. Her life as a traditional homemaker, wife and mother were displaced by a more modern concept of a feminist matriarch; she began to search for new ways to identify her roles as a woman and mother. In addition she started a band, because music would not stop playing in her head, and because music is the great barrier breaker and cosmic language of change and the heralder of transformation.

Convinced the illness was meant to challenge old ways of thinking and being, she embraced the epic journey of woman into mother and realized how many old stereotypes were still at work in our homes. Myths about ‘good’ mother, ‘bad’ mother prevailed, and much of the core suffering by women, was instigated by a society ill-equipped to evaluate women, who were more often than not, trying to do good things.

Dramatic circumstances aside Joy recognizes that each of us goes through tough times. Whether financial, emotional, familial or chemical, there are episodes in life that dish up feelings of desperation, loss, panic, disenchantment and despair.

MaMapalooza is meant as a sacred circle of support, appreciation, empowerment and opportunity. She realizes there is so much to be done, and that MaMapalooza’s successes are but a drop in the bucket when it comes to truly making the world a brighter place.

Our History

The first MaMapalooza event took place on a single stage in Manhattan in 2002.  One concert grew to many and gave birth to a grass roots movement of global proportions, putting women, mothers and families at the center of every experience and raising awareness of their value as consumers and constituents.

Our Events
Our Values
Mamapalooza content elevates the status of women.  We take a holistic approach honoring and celebrating the mind, body, spirit and economics of being a mom.  Through connection and participation, women can develop their own narrative, bear witness to the sustaining spiritual and emotional content of their lives, and create change to the benefit of successive generations.
Our Media, Our Buzz
MaMapalooza uses local talent , volunteers, partners, governments and business & cultural institutions to draw attention to events in each market. Because of our great relationships and reputation, we maintain beneficial and ongoing online, radio, tv and print partnerships that generate huge awareness of the MaMapalooza brand.
