Step 1
Sign up for our Newsletter and click the Event Coordinator button to let us know you're interested in coordinating an event. YOU MUST GET WRITTEN APPROVAL TO USE THE MAMAPALOOZA MARK. Mamapalooza is a trademarked property and just like we wouldn't do anything to steal from you, please don't try and steal from us. We are territorial about this, because we've been creating a buzz with this name since 2002.
Step 2
Contact our office with your interest and set up at time to speak with us about your personal goals, and receive your Event Coordinator Kit which includes legal licensing agreements which must be signed and returned to us.
Step 3
List your personal page on our marketplace by signing up here. Your support of this show us that you are truly interested in empowering women in the arts, education and business and are willing to support this important work. We'll build you a FESTIVAL Page to list you and your event.
Step 4
Join our monthly Event Coordinator Conference Call the first Tuesday of every month at 7PM (EST Sept-June):
Call number Conference Line: 641.715.3200 Code: 720965#
Step 5
Begin the process of learning, networking and empowering yourself. Our Event Coordinators have gone on to create radio shows, start music and art projects, be featured on TV and radio, start businesses, write books and acquire important job skills that have resulted in hirings in Parks Depts and private companies. Our Mamapalooza media network garners tremendous buzz and individuals and community partners all benefit from our network that include millions of people.
Step 6
Have a brainstorming session in your community about finance and form your first committee meeting for the festival. Involve friends, and community partners in a brainstorming session, asking how they would like to help raise money, and what you’d like to highlight in your community. You might be surprised at some of the great ideas.
Step 7
Secure a location for your event. Contact the Parks Dept, private businesses and clubs, Theaters, Cultural Affairs and your county government to get involved. Their support and recourses will guarantee the success of your Mamapalooza Festival Event.
Step 8
Secure in-kind services, such as park use, amphitheater use, a commitment for sound system, stage, parking, insurance and whatever else the particulars of your event will require.
Step 9
Put the word out that you are looking for talent both on a local and national level. Past Mamapalooza performers have included Kathy Valentine of The Go Gos, Bonnie Fuller editor of Cosmopolitan & The Star, The Shirelles, Jen Chapin, local government speakers and a list of talent that goes on and on and on. Include poets, musicians, authors and women owned businesses on your list.
Step 10
Secure media partners; one radio partner, one tv partner, and one local press partner. Don't worry, once the community catches wind of your event they will all be interested in linking up and we will help you write your press releases.
Step 11
Hold a fundraiser at the beginning of the year to prepare for the spring festival. This could be something like a candy sale, rock concert, merchandise sale, dinner event, girls nite out or a community workshop.
Step 12
Plan an auction or raffle onsite to raise money for the Festival. Have local businesses donate an assortment of gift baskets and sell raffle tickets or auction them off. A silent auction, with people making bids on paper, works well here.
Step 13
Charge vendors a nominal fee for their booth space or get the some of the costs of operation donated. "In kind" donations -- vendors providing free services -- are often great incentives to businesses in the community to be involved.
Step 14
Get a corporate sponsor. Contact some of the larger businesses in town with the total cost of the festival and see if they will donate the money to you. They get to write it off as a donation while supporting a part of the community. Large companies have a budget just for this type of thing.
Step 15
Create post cards and posters using the Mamapalooza logo and information about your event, plus the names of any sponsors and partners. You can use the logo from the Mamapalooza website or we'll e-mail you jpgs.
Step 16
Find volunteers to help you with your event. You will need a stage manager, ticket takers, photographer and women to help set up and break down the day of the event. Contact local GS and BoyScout troops, churches, businesses and you'll be amazed how everyone wants to get involved.
Step 17
Make sure to get us information about your event, so we can include it on our national calendar, and information for your local Event Coordinator page. Press inquiries start early here at Mamapalooza headquarters and we'll want to refer reporters to your event.
Step 18
We mail you a Mamapalooza Banner or include your community by creating a Mamapalooza Stage Banner of your own!
Step 19
LET'S ROCK!
Step 20
Follow up with a report back to us and send us video, photos, and news of your events so we can SHOUT OUT LOUD to the WORLD about all the great things women, mothers and communities are up to!
