LETTER ABOUT OUR NEW WEBSITE: Mamapalooza was started by Joy Rose and a handful of girlfriends in 2002 who wanted to empower Moms and serve communities. That informal group held weekly meetings in Joy's home office and helped form the true heart and soul of Mamapalooza.
The first event launched in New York City in May of 2002, declaring May as Mother's Month. A hundred audience members and 15 performers celebrated an evening of music, poetry and dance that was Mom-themed, Woman-inspired and attended by friends, family and the press.
Since then, the 'movement' has grown and changed. Our grass roots initiative has germinated and a 'business' and 'culture' movement has birthed itself.
Our job is to reflect the incredible opportunities and experiences that continue to be foundation of what Mamapalooza accomplishes on a daily basis with your help.
Hopefully this website is the first step in reflecting the profound transformation from 'passion project' to a viable, long-standing tradition and business of Women-Empowered, Mom-Branded, Business, Entertainment and Education.
