40th ANNIVERSARY of EARTH DAY Celebrated APRIL 17th on THE PROMENADE

In honor of the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, lots of activities for kids and adults will fill Santa Monica's 3rd Street Promenade on Saturday, April 17, 2010, from 10 am - 7 pm.  The Promenade between Broadway and Wilshire will transform into a FREE Eco-Fest with over 60 fascinating eco-exhibits, food, music, and fun.

Interactive kid-friendly exhibits to include Stuart Wilde’s live llamas, Star Eco-Station’s and Children’s Nature Institute’s wild animals; Heal the Bay, Surfrider, and California Science Center’s nature exhibits. Kids will have a chance to adopt a shark, pet a llama, or sit in the driver’s seat of a Big Blue Bus powered by natural gas.

A “Sustainable Transport Village” will include displays of alternative fuel vehicles including Toyota 3rd Generation Prius, Honda hybrid(s), electric bikes and scooters.  However, festival attendees are encouraged to walk, bike, or take the Big Blue Bus to the event.

“We are pleased to return to the Promenade and bring so many family oriented exhibits to Earth Day, because kids can encourage parents to buy environmentally friendly products, which reduces pollution and global warming, making a healthier future for all of us,” said Environmental Consultant to Earth Day LA, Jim Stewart, PhD.  “Earth Day helps people learn about environmental solutions already in the marketplace and learn effective ways to take action.  This year we are urging everyone to go to www.B-E-F.org and see how they can become ‘carbon neutral’ and reduce their carbon footprint.”

At the heart of the festival, live music will be presented by Mamapalooza!; Women-empowered, Mom-branded Entertainment & Activism for a greener planet, featuring among others Stacy Robin and the Mama Earth Band, Sabina with Free To Be Me Drum Circle and other award-winning singers & songwriters who will grace the stage from 11am to 7pm.  Santa Monica City Councilmember Kevin McKeown, and other public officials are expected to speak.

MaMapalooza Festivals and Events use arts, culture and education as a hub for social outreach and empowerment.  With talent and event content provided by an ever- growing roster of artists, musicians, comics & authors complimented by women-owned businesses, and social services we pack six large-scale venues in major metropolitan areas for the MaMapalooza Festival every May. We also host over 40 additional stages throughout the month, including clubs, theaters, universities and coffee houses in communities ranging from Mankato, MN and Columbus, OH to Sidney, Australia.

Mamapalooza content elevates the status of women.  We take a holistic approach honoring and celebrating the mind, body, spirit and economics of being a mom.  Through connection and participation, women can develop their own narrative, bear witness to the sustaining spiritual and emotional content of their lives, and create change to the benefit of successive generations.

MaMapalooza uses local talent , volunteers, partners, governments and business & cultural institutions to draw attention to events in each market. Because of our great relationships and reputation, we maintain beneficial and ongoing online, radio, tv and print partnerships that generate huge awareness of the MaMapalooza brand.

MaMapalooza is the only online and real-life organization that offers multiple platforms for advertisers to reach target audiences of women and moms through uniquely branded mom-made entertainment. We connect your brand with a worldwide movement that positively affects the way modern women think about themselves, are perceived, and impact the world through art, culture, education and business.
