MAMAPALOOZA Special Advisory Board
The Advisory Board is a network of experts who have agreed to give the Mamapalooza meaningful help on a regular basis in multiple areas, including organizational development, contest winners, policy, outreach and how Mamapalooza will be managed in the future . Their abilities, experience, and knowledge are the reason they were selected. They are competent and have served the general mission of empowering women long and well and have general caring and support of the organization and its members, programs and values.
The Board advises the president in strategic decision-making processes. Sometimes questions will be posed to the whole group by the president, sometimes individual members will be consulted. They share an active dialog and are chosen not as a "list of names", but as a group of people who will be interacted with regularly.
Alyson Palmer, President, Alyson Palmer, NYC, founding Event Coordinator for Mamapalooza and New York City Parks Dept., activist and rock star. As one third of the legendary cult band BETTY, (Rock), Tony & Alyson (LoungePop), Tone Alley (Tot Rock), Alyson tours the world performing original music - some of which can be heard on film and television, like the theme song of The L Word - to rabid audiences. With her partner in life and music, Tony Salvatore, she plays "soulful, sinuous ballads and hood-laden pop" (Billboard) in Tony & Alyson. Her "When Mama Rocks, Good Times Roll".
Jessica Feder-Birnbaum, Vice President, creator of the MAMAPALOOZA 'Family Event' (a multi-generational variety show) is a writer, theater artist, and mother of two teens. Her works have been commissioned by theater and dance companies, educational institutions, and the media. She writes lifestyle articles for several different magazines and websites. She has worked with people of all ages, believes that everyone has a compelling story to tell, and is passionate about bringing those stories to the stage. She is currently developing a musical with award winning composer Matt Anderson on the life of Margaret Sanger founder of Planned Parenthood entitled: "Margaret Sanger: A Woman Rebel." Ms. Feder-Birnbaum is an MFTA (Materials For the Arts - NY State Council on the arts) fellowship recipient.
Nancy Lombardo, Comedy Advisor, creator of 'Momedy' as well as Friars Club honoree, comedy coach and cable tv star. Nancy is a pioneer in Mom-Based comedy and was a leading member of the First Ammendment Comedy Troupe, consultant to John Leguizamo and star of her one-woman show: Jazz Housewife as well as numerous comedy albums.
Jennifer Rawlings, LA - Film Advisor, comedy, writer and kick-ass mom, Jennifer has performed around the world with the USO, and most recently completed work on the film, 'Forgotten Voices, Women Of Bosnia'.
Amy Simon, LA - Theater Advisor, actress, writer and creator of the longest running one-woman show in Los Angeles, 'Cheerios In My Underwear', Amy writes for Fun, Fabulous Female Facts at Museum Of Motherhood, appears regularly on the radio with her show 'Motherhood Unplugged' and is at work on a new theatrical piece called 'She's History', stories of famous (and not so famous, American Mothers).
Jennifer Nevadomski - Social Media, a successful writer and Mom-prenuer, Jennifer is a Mom-Bassador for Moms Like Me NYC, a social media expert, blogger and founding partner of MothersDayParty, featuring the largest Mothers Day Party in the world.
Pilley Bianchi and Carol Lester - Music Publishing, are the founders of the first and only music publishing company comprised of women and mothers. MamaPUBlooza Music publishing has placed songs in films, radio and tv. Both Carol and Pilley are stand alone, award winning songwriters, featured judges at the Independent Music Awards and producers of the annual Mamapalooza Compilation CDs.
