The first MaMapalooza event took place on a single stage in Manhattan in 2002. One concert grew to many and gave birth to a grass roots movement of global proportions, putting women, mothers and families at the center of every experience and raising awareness of their value as consumers and constituents.
The popular live music festival Mamapalooza continues its mission of empowering women, mothers and families on Saturday, May 22 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla. Mamapalooza prides itself on highlighting the victories and struggles of women everywhere while amplifying mothers’ voices. This inspirational day is filled with information on health and well-being, along with live music, boutique shopping, activities for kids, news on green and sustainable living, and plenty of food vendors. Mamapalooza is a fun and enriching day in the park for Westchester families.
Founder and President Joy Rose says this year’s event is especially focused on raising awareness for the Motherhood Foundation and the Museum of Motherhood, with a push to register mothers online. Interested parties can visit MotherhoodMuseum.org to list a mother they love for a small donation. Registrants receive a certificate with a special greeting, and their names live on in perpetuity at M.O.M. (Museum of Motherhood). Momentum is building to purchase a home for the museum in the historic village of Seneca Falls, home to the Suffragette movement.
