Mamapalooza, Inc., Joy Rose and Media Mom will partner with Christopher Daly and Hip4Kids, a non-profit 501c3 company to create mulitple health, wellness and food and sports-related events in the New York Metro Area in 2010. Additional partnerships include Smart4Kidz for stress reduction and relaxation techniques for school age chidren. Look for info about these events coming soon...... and onsite at Mamapalooza Festivals in Westchester, NY., and New York City, respectively, May 22nd, & 23rd '10
Health Is Wealth!
SMART-4-Kidzis an evidence based program, currently in NYC afterschool programs. SMART teaches children a portable skill set proven to help with focus, anxiety and feeling more positive about possibilities and future outcomes. The classes include dance and movement, poses that mimic nature, breathing techniques and storytelling.
DANCE SMART-4-Kidzbegins with a warm up of fun games of movement, music and imagination. Different dance forms from around the world are introduced, one at a time. Students are taught to work on the dance as a group and are encouraged to create their own unique steps. Before moving on to the next dance mode, the students choreograph their own group ‘performance.’ We’ll cover several forms over the semester such as Modern, Folk, Afro-Cuban, Native-American, etc. After dance, we cool down with poses that move the body and the mind, imitating nature and fantasy. We’ll become tall strong mountains and different sorts of trees. We’ll roar like lions and become magical wizards as the teacher supports and encourages imaginative creations and new poses. Breathing techniques to relax, listen to our bodies and use for any stressful occasion is taught. The class finishes off with a grand story, incorporating the student’s ideas and contributions from the SMART-4-Kidz class that day. Instructors: Smart-4-Kidz specially trains qualified dance instructors in our methods to increase the effectiveness and quality of the program.
We are all very excited about the year 2010. After world disruptions in the economic market, many people are ready to say goodbye to the kind of troubles we've all felt and suffered in one way or another. Still it's important to remember that for many, economic troubles are the least of it. We live in a world where oft' times suffering and hardship go hand in hand with the turn of the planet and changing of the seasons. For those of us who are blessed enough to know we are blessed, our Mamapalooza wish is that you will continue to lift up your neighbors and friends. That you'll keep singing and dancing and spreading joy, even when it seems like no one's listening. There is nothing like a song, a poem or a story to spread light. I wish each and everyone of you a happy, blessed and healthy new year. Remember, true prosperity is in your heart by way of a giving spirit. Make sure to live as GREEN as you can this year.....
